My main field is Roman archaeology, and since 2024 I have been serving as Head of Collections at the Rheinisches Landesmuseum Trier. My research has focused primarily on military sites along the northern Upper German Limes, with a particular emphasis on the fort of Niederbieber. My PhD thesis examines the archival material from the fort’s earliest excavations, conducted between 1791 and the 1820s. I am deeply interested in all kinds of (Roman) small finds and enjoy immersing myself in the intricate details – some would call it rabbitholes – of their study.
Recently, I have developed a rather unusual fascination with the archaeology of modern sports facilities, exemplified by my involvement in preserving the ruins of a ski jump in the Rhineland as an archaeological monument in 2023.

Keywords: Roman Limes, history of archaeology, baths, burials, small finds, archaeology of contemporary past (sports facilities)
