My current research project “Coins streams in the Roman West” examines Roman coin circulation, challenging Hopkins’s model of uniformity by highlighting regional differences. Using the Coin Hoards of the Roman Empire database, it analyzes silver and bronze coin types to map patterns. A diagnostic approach identifies agents behind monetary flows, revealing the Roman government’s active role in managing coins and imperial control (AD 81–138).
