Marta is the Deputy Director of Excavations at the Vindolanda Trust. In 2025 she completed a PhD in heritage management and public archaeology at Newcastle University, looking at volunteer participation in archaeological heritage practices on Hadrian’s Wall. Talk to her about Vindolanda, the Wall, participatory heritage management and, oddly enough, spindle whorls. Marta is also the co-founder to the ECR Network.
